McArthurGlen is basically a large outdoor shopping centre featuring shops by the world’s most famous designers and brands. The other unique thing about this shopping centre is that although it is an outlet, it has a luxury feel. This is partly down to the design. Traditional style shops on small streets, that open on to larger areas with cafés and fountains. It feels like you’re walking around a small town rather than a large shopping complex. The total retail space is about 17,500 M2.
The discounts on offer are truly astonishing. On my last visit to McArthurGlen Malaga I saw a Calvin Klein light jacket reduced to just 36 Euros. A remarkable price for an original Calvin Klein jacket. The discounts are so good, a visit feels like it is Black Friday every time you visit. It really is a fantastic opportunity to buy some of the best designer clothing a ridiculously low prices.
The individual shops are modern and large, with each one offering a wide range of items, all at heavily discounted prices. The traditional village decor and modern facilities makes walking around a pleasure. McArthurGlen has ample parking and the train station is just a 2-minute walk.

Alternatively there is free parking and easy access by car. Below I will explain the best ways to get to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Malaga By Train
McArthurGlen has a train station just 2 minutes walk from the shopping complex. If you are staying in the centre of Malaga, you can catch the train from the Malaga Centro Alameda train station. This is situated on Avda Alameda and the train station is about 200 meters from the bottom of Calle Larios. Take the line C1 train that goes in the direction of Fuengirola to Plaza Mayor station. The journey time will take under 15 minutes.
If you are staying on any of the Costa del Sol resorts, you can catch the C1 train to Plaza Mayor train station. This train line passes resorts such as Fuengirola, Benalmadena (Arroyo de la Miel) and Torremolinos. Journey would depend on which town you depart. Catch the train that goes in the direction of Malaga Centro Alameda.
You can also get from Malaga Airport to Plaza Mayor station in about three minutes by catching the C1 train in the direction of Fuengirola. It is just one stop from the airport and will take less than 3 minutes. This could be a great way to pass some time or do some shopping before traveling back or if your flight is delayed.
Visiting McArthurGlen Malaga By Car
To get to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Málaga by car from Málaga and the Costa del Sol resorts, follow these directions:
From Málaga City Center:
- Take the MA-20 motorway: Head towards the Algeciras / Aeropuerto. Take the exit for the A-404/Coín/Parador de Golf.
- Alternatively, take the MA-21 motorway: Exit towards A-404/Churriana/Alhaurín/Coín.
Personally, I think the first option is the best. If you drive along the MA-21, you can see McArthurGlen and Plaza Mayor as you approach the exit. Wherever you are travelling from, it is best to end up on the MA-21 and get off at the Parador de Golf/Coin/A-404 exit.
From Marbella:
- Take the A-7 highway: Head towards Málaga.
- Exit to MA-20 motorway: Follow the signs towards Parador de Golf/Coín/A-404.
- Proceed towards A-404: Follow the signs to the outlet.
The drive from Málaga city center takes about 20 minutes, it is best to take Avda Andalucia from the city centre to reach the motorway. If you are traveling from Marbella, it takes approximately 35 minutes and Fuengirola takes about 15 minutes.
Visiting McArthurGlen By Bus
A more relaxing way to get to McArthurGlen is by bus. This will give you a chance to see a bit more as you pass through the city. The bus number to McArthurGlen is the EMT line 5 bus. This will take you to the Plaza Mayor, which McArthurGlen is beside. The journey time is around 20 minutes from Malaga. You can catch the line 5 bus from Avenida Alameda, this is the main avenue at the bottom of Calle Larios.
Although the bus will let you see more of the city, I still think personally that the train is quicker and easier. I guess it all depends on personal preference, as both forms of transport will get you there in under 20 minutes.
Is McArthurGlen Worth A Visit?
Of course! The McArthurGlen Designer Outlet is a well-designed and enjoyable place to walk around. There are over 100 designer shops to visit, all with amazing discounts. If you are resident in a non EU country, you can enjoy tax-free shopping. The charming Spanish themed streets, great facilities and proximity to Malaga and the Costa del Sol, makes this easy to visit.
I would allow about two or three hours to explore this large designer outlet. This would give you time to stop for a coffee or have a bite to eat. McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Malaga is open 6 days a week from 10:00–22:00. The outlet will open Sundays during summer and on certain public holidays.
